I always enjoy making every package look too good to open. I get out all my wrapping supplies and make a mess for a few days, but the finished packages are so worth it.
I love stamping and have always admired the look of white and black ink on Kraft paper. This year I decided to create my own gift wrap using stamps from my collection and brown paper from the dollar store. My goal was to create gift wrap as meaningful as the gifts inside.
Brown Paper gift wrap is simple yet elegant at the same time. Wednesday was my birthday whoo hoo! Making your own gift wrap is a great way to get some miles out of your stamp collection and will give you an excuse to grab some new ones Once you have all the stamps you need or want….
Let me tell you for 1 dollar this roll of brown paper has gone the distance! I wrapped a cooler yes a HUGE cooler! First, cut your brown paper to the size of the gift you will be wrapping.
Next, select your stamps.
For some of the gift wrap I created I went with a specific pattern and others I flipped and turned my stamps willy nilly for a more eclectic look. Dig deep into your collection…you never know what you might find! Here you can see an example of a specific pattern achieved by turning my stamp. This particular image is a golden oldie Hampton Arts stamp from my stash.
All of the black ink stamping was done with a Ranger Archival Ink pad. This ink pad rarely leaves my work table and is great for large-scale stamping and beyond! Add a bit of interest to your gift wrap by accenting the bold black stamping with white accent.
Select a stamp and add white images in a random fashion. Mine is Colorbox Frost White Pigment ink. For large packages or to add a touch of color you can use Distress Ink pads as Stamps!
This package was huge and even my largest block stamps would have taken forever to cover it.
Creating Gift Tags I wanted to complement the brown paper gift wrap with coordinating tags. I continued the white stamping by using stamps that matched the gift wrap. The tags were attached with Raffia to Holiday ribbon found at Dollar Tree.
After all of these gifts I still have a ton of brown paper left! Have some creative gift wrap of your own? Ranger has a little contest going on where you can win lots of Ranger goodies… check it out here!
